TAKING ACTION to support our campaign for additional development finance is quick and easy.
The All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Debt, Aid and Trade has published a report into innovative finance for development, in which it calls on the government to consider imposing a 0.005% levy on sterling currency transactions as a way of raising money to combat global poverty.

We now need your help to maximise the impact of this parliamentary report. To TAKE ACTION please read on.
Contact your MP
Write to your MP to ask him/her how the Chancellor of the Exchequer intends to respond to the principal recommendation of the new Debt, Aid and Trade APPG report, that;
'the UK Government undertake rigorous research in an open and transparent manner into the implementation of a 0.005% stamp duty on all sterling foreign exchange transactions, to provide additional revenue to help bridge the significant funding gap required to meet the Millennium Development Goals.'
Your MP should seek an answer from the Chancellor and respond to your enquiry within weeks. Stamp Out Poverty would be very pleased if you would let us know what response you receive from your MP.
