From a bold idea to two powerful coalitions
Founded by Stamp Out Poverty, Make Polluters Pay began as a UK campaign to ensure the fossil fuel industry contributes to the costs of the climate crisis. Built around the simple principle that those who caused the damage should help pay to repair it, the campaign quickly grew into a powerful UK coalition of civil society organisations, trade unions, faith groups and campaigners.
Building on the success of the UK campaign, Stamp Out Poverty went on to establish Make Polluters Pay International, bringing together national campaigns, NGOs, faith communities, policymakers, legal experts, communicators and grassroots movements across every continent behind the same shared principle.
As convenor of both the UK and international coalitions, Stamp Out Poverty helps connect partners around a shared vision, strengthening collaboration across communications, policy, legal action and movement building.

Stamp Out Poverty provides the strategic infrastructure that enables organisations in different countries to work together more effectively. We convene partners, identify opportunities for collaboration and help build shared strategies across communications, policy, legal action and movement building.
By connecting organisations with different expertise, constituencies and geographic reach, we help strengthen relationships, share learning and build collective momentum around the polluter pays agenda, while allowing every partner to retain its own voice and priorities.
